Internet Time Capsules

For those who have known me for awhile, you probably already know that I’m a sucker for anything related to ‘90s era computers. So when I found this website this evening, I knew my weekend was made.

It’s amazing looking back at how simple the Internet was at this time; when there was no JavaScript, no social networking, people were making their own “homepages” with sites like GeoCities, and there was no flashy imagery!

So head on over to “404PageNotFound” because if you were around back then and had Internet back then, prepare for a nostalgia overload, and if you hadn’t been born yet, then this is a fun little history lesson for you.

Coming Soon: 1993 Toys R Us Catalog

I realized awhile ago that I haven’t given much attention to my new blog since I started it last month. Actually, I don’t think I’ve given it any attention. Anyway, now’s a good time to give it a good jumpstart thanks to an awesome eBay find.

As most of you probably know, I’ve been a ‘90s nostalgia nut ever since 2005. And this past year, I’ve acquired an interest in vintage Toys R Us related memorabilia. I remember visiting the Toys R Us across from Carolina Circle Mall back in the ‘90s, almost as much as I went to the actual mall. I absolutely loved that place until it sadly closed in August 2002.

$T2eC16VHJFwFFZ8RnuyZBS!ouIEYCw~~60_57I was browsing around eBay this evening and I happened to come across this interesting item; a 1993 Toys R Us Christmas catalog! As a guy who is absolutely in love with all things ‘90s, I had to buy this because it involved Toys R Us and vintage ‘90s toys which some of them I probably had back then.

By looking at the eBay listing, it appears it has at least 69 pages, though I’m thinking it’s probably well over 100 pages. Some of the items it seems to include are Super Nintendo consoles, Sega Genesis consoles, Sega Game Gear portables, and Barney toys (which were very popular in 1993).

However, the Toys R Us catalog I am especially looking for is the one from 1994, my favorite year and favorite Christmas. I found one on eBay in May 2013, but unfortunately, it was being sold for $80 with no option to make an offer. I hope to find one someday.

Anyway, I’m really excited about this catalog and I plan to make a full review of it here on my blog as well as on YouTube in the form of a video.

Welcome!

I've been a member of Blogger since August 2005, starting with my original blog, Road City. A month later, I began the Carolina Circle City blog in September 2005 which has become immensely popular these past 8 years.

It recently occurred to me that I've never really had a true personal blog before. Well tonight, I've decided to change that. This blog will serve as a place for me to post miscellaneous content that doesn't fit in at Carolina Circle City. Here, you will find my ramblings regarding my Packard Bell computers, computers in general, nostalgia, and everything else on my mind. So I hope you folks stay tuned!
